Biography

A fourth-generation Houtchens lawyer, Brandon B. Houtchens draws on the experience of his ancestors and partners to serve his clients. He strives to help his clients find the most effective and efficient solutions to the legal issues and challenges they face. He seeks to satisfy his clients by communicating promptly and effectively, by developing appropriate goals and strategies, and by pursuing those goals in a professional manner.

Most of Brandon’s clients are individuals and small business, although he has successfully litigated cases on behalf of and advised large corporations. Brandon’s practice includes estate planning, probate administration, commercial and business transactions, and landlord-tenant matters, including evictions.

Brandon has also represented professionals in the context of acquisitions and/or sales of LLCs, corporations, and partnerships. He prepares wills, powers of attorney, and living wills, and he represents personal representatives throughout the process of probate.  

When away from the office, Brandon is involved in a variety of efforts to improve his community. He has been a member of the board of directors for the Greeley Transitional House and Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity.

In 2010, Brandon was appointed by the Weld County Commissioners to serve as a member of the North Colorado Medical Center Board of Trustees. For eight years, he served on the board of directors for NCMC, Inc., which sold the North Colorado Medical Center in 2019 and became the Weld Trust, one of the largest foundations in Colorado. Brandon currently serves on the board of directors for the Weld Trust and the NCMC Foundation. Brandon has also been an adjunct professor in the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado, teaching Business Law to undergraduate and graduate students.
